ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager is the EPA's benchmarking tool, and many cities and states require large buildings to report through it. Most benchmarking errors start with the same bills we audit: missing months, estimated reads and corrected bills that never make it into the reporting record.

Trace Global connects through the Portfolio Manager web services API. You share your properties and meters with our Portfolio Manager account, and we post monthly consumption entries for each meter from the corrected, audited bill record.

When a utility issues a corrected bill or a refund changes a period's usage, we update the matching consumption entry so your benchmarking data matches what you were finally billed.

How the data feeds the audit

  • Find months where Portfolio Manager has no consumption entry while AP shows a paid bill.
  • Replace estimated-read months with corrected values once the utility trues them up.
  • Flag large year-over-year swings that point to crossed meters or multiplier errors.
